Vino came to Pinner Baptist Church in 2012 and has served on the Leadership for the past three years. She is currently the Assistant Church Secretary and has roles connected to Church Governance. This includes jointly overseeing Safeguarding and ensuring the church operates responsibly and ethically through the observance of relevant laws and regulations. She is a member of the Finance & Property committee and is actively engaged in our Women’s Ministry [SALT].
Vino was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka and had the great blessing of being brought up in a loving Christian home and being exposed to Biblical teaching and church at an early age. She therefore never doubted the existence of God. However, it wasn’t until her late teens that she committed her life to Jesus Christ and was baptised.
A few years later Vino came to the UK to study and pursue a career in medicine. She trained in various London hospitals and went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career in the NHS, the last 28 years of which she worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Northwick Park Hospital. However, her focus on professional advancement coupled with long working hours as a frontline hospital doctor, affected her ability to mature as a Christian or be involved with church. In 2012 Vino was led to Pinner Baptist Church which is now an integral part of her life. She considers it a privilege and joy to serve the church.
Vino has a deep love for God and a desire to study His Word more deeply. She cherishes shared learning opportunities both at church and at the Bible Study Fellowship she attends. BSF is a global ministry that meets weekly in groups for in-depth study of the Bible. Outside of church her hobbies and recreational interests include travelling, socialising, current affairs, golf, cricket, crosswords and musical theatre. She is also currently enjoying learning Italian and is rekindling an interest in British history.
