Siew was born in Malaysia and is of ethnic Chinese background. She was brought up as a Christian at a young age and was baptised during her teens. She came to the UK in 1975 to pursue a Nursing career. She subsequently trained in midwifery and became a qualified Midwife. Siew is married with 2 grown up children and has 1 grandson.
Siew has been a member of Pinner Baptist Church since 1992 and is actively involved and committed to support PBC in various areas. She heads up a small army of voluntary church cleaners; enjoys co-ordinating food events at the church and is often responsible for organising catering around these events. Siew uses her God given gift of creativity to make the church look beautiful on special occasions. She delights in preparing floral arrangements when needed. In addition to being an active member of the Women’s Ministry (SALT), Siew also serves as a deacon.
Her wider church roles include being BMS World Mission Birthday Scheme Secretary for Pinner Baptist Church. The BMS Birthday Scheme supports medical work across the world. Last year collections from members signed up to this scheme, enabled the church to be in the top 100 churches in this scheme
Siew also represents Pinner Baptist Church on the area committee for ‘The World Day of Prayer’ which is an annual women-led, global, ecumenical prayer movement. The World Day of Prayer worship service has a special annual theme which is developed by women of a different country each year. Siew hosted the local area service at PBC in 2017 when the focus was on the women in the Phillipines and she hopes to do the same in the near future.
Siew enjoys Bible study and fellowship with her friends and the Malaysian Christian Community in London. In her spare time, when the weather is good and if not looking after her grandson, she loves to potter around her garden; she enjoys flower arranging and walking.
